Volunteers Dig In

GREEN fingered volunteers dug in to help out in a special project which will help residents get healthy and go green.
Fabrick Housing Group joined with Stronger Together in East Middlesbrough (STEM) to spruce up an allotment in the town as part of a wider scheme.
Eight volunteers, along with a number of volunteers from STEM and other local organisations, erected fences and built composting and materials storage bays at a site in Town Farm to be used by local residents.
The moves were part of a bigger STEM project to bring disused allotments back into use.
Fabrick also undertook the project as part of its commitment to Business in the Community’s North East Cares project, a national campaign to engage employees in their communities through volunteering.
The scheme means companies can make a difference by addressing key social issues in the most deprived areas and disadvantaged communities, where the impact is greatest.
Brenda Kirby, Director of Corporate Services for Fabrick, the parent company of Erimus Housing and Tees Valley Housing, added: “We were looking to recruit a team of motivated people from across the group to take part in the project that would benefit many people and communities who live in our properties.
“The final group from Fabrick consisted of eight members and with their team spirit and determination, they did a brilliant job and everyone enjoyed themselves.”
